Our School Patch

Detailed Description of the Patch

We are located in Menifee Valley California and the large Dam/ Reservoir to the east of us is Diamond Valley Lake- a vital Water source for Southern California. Water which is critical to all life. Represents Respect that flows in all directions, for those who are our Seniors (in age and Rank) as well as those who are our Juniors (in age and Rank) An Archeological Dig there produced a huge Collection of Skeletons; Dinosaurs, Saber Tooth Tigers, Mammoths and Ancient Treasures from before our time. The Rocky Mountain Range in the background is actually Dragon Mountain, in reference to the ancient life that was here before us, they who have walked this very ground, we are humbled by All who have gone before us.

Our Instructor, Mrs. Arlene Eyerman, has the school patch with the Bear Face in the center of the Songahm Star....to keep our close ties with Her, to show our loyalty and respect for Her, we chose the constellation Ursa Major, the Great Bear, part of the big dipper, found on the patch in the sky, above the mountain. There are nine stars that form this star configuration, the north star being one of them, the biggest and brightest, used through the ages as a guide. The North Star represents those who guide, Instructors, those who take on the yoke of responsibility, of leadership.

The stars hidden among the trees to the left represent Family. Family: A unit of Father, Mother and Children, A unit of Siblings, A unit of Parent and Child(ren), A unit of close friends bonded through training, all these things, none more important than the other but each more important than gold.

The Shades of Blue in the sky, represent both morning and night...and the cycle we are all on, ending up each day where we begin again the next days journey. As in the Songahm forms, ending back at the beginning.

The Silhouetted Pine Trees in various stages of growth represent the Songahm Pine Trees- evergreen and loyal, with the granite rocks that show outer change as time goes by but the core is the same, solid and strong.
